We are offering a 7-day singing retreat at Finca Ara Oko, an ancient off-grid farmhouse in Southern Spain. Drawing on the choir Chœur de Mots Clés (based in London and Spain), this retreat provides ensemble and individual vocal development. You will learn stunning Cuban folkloric songs in three and four-part harmonies. Each day will consist of sessions that develop breathwork and diaphragm strengthening for vocals, musical confidence with rhythm and harmony, and lead and group singing.
We want you to leave our retreat a more confident, connected, and knowledgeable singer and take home with you a collection of beautiful songs and memories that you can keep forever.
The week works towards a performance locally in collaboration with our Spanish choirs Coro de Clave.
The name Coro de Clave was given to choirs that proliferated in the black communities of Western Cuba from the last part of the 1800s until around 1920. They were mobile ensembles, often amassing over 100 members and would compete with other neighbouring groups. We have revived and transferred this beautiful idea of community singing to this century and expanded the repertoire to include other Cuban-based styles.
The retreat celebrates the music, historical context, and culture of this tradition, as well as the coming together of a wonderful community of people who enjoy singing these special songs and the beautiful surrounding landscape.
The week-long retreat is split between tuition, practice time, making the most of the amazing location, relaxing, and, of course, eating and drinking.
Prix : The price includes seven nights’ accommodation, three meals a day, and five days x four hours of tuition. (Please see below for costs not included.)

Le nom Coro de Clave fut donné aux chœurs qui proliférèrent dans les communautés noires de l'ouest de Cuba de la fin des années 1800 jusqu'aux années 1920. Le retiro célèbre la musique, le contexte historique et la culture de cette tradition, ainsi que la rencontre d'une merveilleuse communauté de personnes qui aiment chanter ces chansons spéciales et admirer le magnifique paysage.
La retraite d'une semaine est divisée entre des cours, du temps de pratique et la jouissance de l'incroyable emplacement (randonnées en montagne, plages, plongée sous-marine, bronzage, observation des étoiles, équitation, etc.), la relaxation, et bien sûr, manger et boire.
14, 15, 16 et 17 septembre : Ateliers de 4 heures, répartis tout au long de la journée.
18 septembre : Répétition nocturne de 2 heures à Lobras avec notre chorale locale.
19 septembre : Répétition matinale de 2 heures. Spectacle le soir.
20 septembre : Adieux.

Glamping(2 tentes de glamping de type "bell tent" de 2x4 mètres, 2 personnes par tente). Nous utiliserons la zone de glamping comme hébergement supplémentaire si nous avons plus de 7 personnes réservant pour le cours. Nos tentes sont luxueuses, spacieuses et confortables. Partagé avec une autre personne et douche extérieure.

What an amazing singing retreat! Set in the beautiful mountains of Spain, the whole experience was just magical. We stayed at a gorgeous finca with the loveliest hosts, Vicky and David, who made us feel so welcome.
The singing sessions were brilliant — lots of great singing, laughter and fun, with such a lovely group atmosphere. And the food was absolutely delicious, thanks to the wonderful Italian cook, Kiara!
A really special few days in a beautiful setting. I came home feeling happy, inspired and definitely singing a little louder! Would absolutely recommend.
